Exploring the intersection of economics, politics, and sociology

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey. I received my BSc in Economics from Middle East Technical University, MSc in Economics at Ankara University, and Ph.D. in Sociology at McGill University. Before joining Bilkent, I was a Post-doctoral Researcher and Instructor at the Middle East Technical University.

I am the author of Euro-Austerity and Welfare States (University of Toronto Press, 2021) and co-editor of Europeanization of Public Policy in Southern Europe (Routledge, 2014).

My work appeared in Journal of European Public Policy, Journal of European Social Policy, Social Policy & Administration, Journal of Public Policy, Comparative European Politics, European Political Science, South European Society and Politics, Current Politics and Economics of Europe, edited volumes, and other outlets.

I held a visiting appointment at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies at Harvard University (2015-2016). I was a Visiting Researcher at the Stockholm Institute for Social Research (SOFI) at Stockholm University (2016), Observatoire social européen (OSE), Brussels (2007), Zentrum für Sozialpolitik (ZeS), University of Bremen (2004), Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies, Cologne (2003), and Institut d’études européennes, Université Libre de Bruxelles (2001).
